TED Talks

Brene Brown: The Power of Vulnerability

In this TED talk, Dr. Brene Brown shares valuable insights born from her research. She does this using humor and authenticity in a way that feels connected and relatable. If you're new to Brene's work, this is a great place to start!

Luvvie Ajayi Jones: Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

In this TED talk, Luvvie encourages us to push through fear, disrupt the status quo, and make change. It's a funny and inspiring talk that is likely to make you want to read her books!

Susan Cain: The Power of Introverts

In this talk, Susan encourages us to challenge what society tells us about extroversion being the most desirable trait a person can have. She shines light on the beauty and critical importance of extroverts' contributions to the world. This one is for everyone, but the introverted among us are likely to feel strong appreciation for this work.

Hannah Gadsby: Three contradictions. Or not.

Hannah is brilliant and witty in this talk, and models how to be unapologetically herself. As a gay, autistic woman with a significant trauma history, she frequently found herself on the outskirts of society, trying to make sense of it all. Her observations are superb lessons for all of us.

Kristin Neff: The Space Between Self-Esteem and Self Compassion

Kritin Neff does an incredible job of teaching us how to relate to ourselves with kindness. She lays out the three components of self-compassion and describes her work in a simple, beautiful way that you may just want to share with everyone you love.

Glennon Doyle: Lessons from the Mental Hospital

Glennon shares her own story to help us to learn that stuffing the truth of our hearts, minds, and bodies might be what society expects of us, but the costs of doing so are much too high. She encourages truth telling by telling the truth, no matter how messy. What a lovely gift to share.

Susan Cain and Min Kym: The Hidden Power of Sad Songs and Rainy Days

Thank you to Susan Cain for normalizing the power of longing, and for offering the idea that this is where joy and sorrow meet. Bittersweetness, and holding opposing emotions and truth simultaneously, is part of the human experience, especially for the sensitive souls among us.

Maria Sirois: Living an Authentic Life

In this talk, Maria invites us to honor ourselves by learning to tap into that inner voice that knows what will brings us peace, joy, comfort, inspiration... She reminds us that we all have an aliveness inside that needs only a nudge to awaken, and she encourages us to take even one small step toward that. Thank you, Maria, for bringing such positivity to the world!

Brene Brown: Listening to shame

Dr. Brene Brown uses her own experiences as well as findings from research to teach us that shame is at the root of most of our "broken behavior." This talk encourages empathy for ourselves and others as we acknowledge shame and work through it, rather than ignoring it and pretending it doesn't exist.
